World Record Challenge - 500m Treadmill Run

Local fireman, Steve Moore, is taking on one of the toughest challenges imaginable. Starting from Sunday 6th November 2011, he will run a total distance of 500 miles on a treadmill.

Steve Moore is attempting to break the current World Record for the ‘Greatest Distance Travelled on a Treadmill in One Week’ which currently stands at 468.4 miles (753.24km) held by Lee Chamberlain set in 2009. Steve will begin the equivalent of nearly 20 back-to-back marathons at 11am on Sunday 6th and will purposefully finish on Remembrance Sunday dead on 11am – to coincide with the two minute silence held across the nation.

For seven days and nights, Steve’s home will be Midsummer Place Shopping Centre in Milton Keynes to give shoppers that chance to support him and donate to his two chosen charities, the Royal British Legion and Help Our Wounded. During this period, sleep will be at a minimum and the hours he does manage will be within a sleeping bag. Food and nutrition will be essential to maintain energy levels and stamina, that will be managed by his support team. Steve says “[Insert quote].”
